SYNOPSIS: Oscar Wilde’s enduring social satire, The Importance of Being Earnest, is a comedic masterpiece that is one of the highpoints of Wilde’s artistic career. Fast paced, witty, and biting, the play asks the question of whether form is more important than substance and, in this era of “fake news” and the “cult of celebrity”, what question could be more relevant? Filled with hidden romance, mistaken identities, deceptions, and secrets, the story follows two sets of lovers and their relationships – journeys fraught with misunderstanding and rebellion – on the search for an ultimate truth.
