5 ‘Old’ Video Games That Need To Be Remastered

[ad_1]

With the release of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy today, I wanted to take a look at five other Video Games that I felt needed a remaster and re-release on the newest consoles. So let’s jump right in.

Number 5: Fallout New Vegas/Fallout 3

With Bethesda remastering Skyrim last year for the PS4 and Xbox One, it makes sense to take a look back at their earlier Fallout games, and see if any of these could make a comeback.

Fallout 3 was originally released back in 2008 and New Vegas back in 2010. With both games being Bethesda properties, there is a chance they could be remastered. However, Fallout New Vegas was developed by Obsidian Entertainment rather than Bethesda themselves, which could make it difficult for their to be a remaster.

Either way, a Fallout 3 and/or New Vegas remaster would be well received by fans of the franchise and would, with no doubt, sell well. The fact that Bethesda are yet to do so might suggest they have another Fallout game up their sleeves….

Number 4: Lego Indiana Jones

Admittedly there is an abundance of Lego games currently available on the PS4 and Xbox One, including Lego Harry Potter which was only just remastered and re-released onto the next-gen consoles. However, one big franchise is still absent from the current Lego roster. Lego Indiana Jones.

Originally released in 2008 (and its sequel in 2009) on the PS3 and Xbox 360, Lego Indiana Jones was an enjoyable Lego Game that gave the player the chance to play through the 4 Indiana Jones films but in a Lego style, similar to Lego Harry Potter. However, Lego Indiana Jones isn’t the only big franchise Lego game yet to be remade, Lego Lord of the Rings (2012) and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (2011) are still only available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

With all 3 of these franchises still popular in the world today, it does make me wonder as to why Lego and TT Games are yet to remaster them. Then again, the company is currently developing other games such as the ongoing Lego Dimensions and Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 (coming out later this year).

Number 3: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Sadly this might be a game we will never see remastered.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was released in 2008 on PS3 and Xbox 360 and was subject to critical and fan acclaim. Focusing on a young force-sensitive human who was raised by Darth Vader in order to one day defeat the Emperor. The Force Unleashed gave fans a look into what happened between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and added something new to the canon and some more depth to Vader’s character.

The game did well and was a hit, so why wont it be remastered? Because it is no longer Star Wars canon. When Disney bought Lucasfilm and Lucasarts back in 2012 it scrapped most of Star Wars’ expanded universe including books, comics and unfortunately the Force Unleashed games. However, these games are still available on the older consoles and are fairly cheap. So if you are desperate to play them, better not to throw out your old console.

Number 2: Call of Duty: World at War

Now i know what you’re all thinking ‘Connor, don’t we have enough Call of Duty games???’ and to be honest, you’re right. But Call of Duty: World at War is a classic Call of Duty game, something that we haven’t had in a long time.

Released back in 2008 on the PS3/2 and Xbox 360, Call of Duty: World at War was a hit with the fans and not only produced a great single-player campaign but also introduced the world to Call of Duty Zombies.

Admittedly the Zombies aspect has already been remastered in the new Zombie DLC for Call of Duty: Clack Ops 3 but the single-player campaign is still something worth remastering. Plus, it’s not as if Activision haven’t already remastered their old games. Modern Warfare 2 was re-released last year with Infinite Warfare and has now been re-released as its own separate game. So how about it? Maybe bring back World at War with Call of Duty WWII? Just an idea..

Number 1: The Simpsons Hit And Run

Finally, and I’m sure I’m not the only one here, but please, please, remaster and re-release The Simpsons Hit and Run.

The Simpsons Hit and Run was a huge success when it was first released all the way back in 2003 and the love for it hasn’t stopped. If anything there have been even more fans of the game in the past few years. Currently however, you can only play this game if you still have a PlayStation 2, Game Cube, Xbox or an older version of Windows.

There hasn’t been a decent Simpsons game since this. There was The Simpsons Game on PS3 back in 2007 but that wasn’t as well received and the only other game available is the terribly addicting Simpsons Tapped Out on your phone.

So please, Radical Entertainment, bring back Simpsons Hit and Run, it will make everyone incredibly happy.

So that’s my list. Got any other suggestions on old games to bring back? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter at FilmAndTVNerd
