We all know those mainstreamies: Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift– Yeah, they’re all great. But what about those not as popular? There are definitely some great gems you can find, if you dig a little. And, maybe one day, you’ll be able to say that you were their OG Fan from the beginning!
And if you DO listen to these artists and fall in love, make sure to spread the word.. Or don’t. Maybe you like that eerie “I’m not like the others” distinction against the rest of society. That’s fine too.

1. Allie X
This canadian singer is an upcoming pop L.E.G.E.N.D. and I am living for her albums.. CollXtion I and CollXtion II. Though she may have an unseemly obsession with the Letter “X”, I still love her.
Future gay icon. I’m calling it.
2. Aly & AJ
The past Disney duo had some major bops like Potential Breakup Song, Like Whoa, and Chemicals React, but they have matured their sound into a vibey, western vibe. Not country western. But vibey western. Idk, just listen to it. Their newest song “Take Me” is MY JAM.
Take my advice and just go for it, man.
3. Charli XCX
OK, so I know she isn’t “underground” or whatever, but she is totally underrated. Yeah, Boom Clap hit #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2013– But that was 2013. I’m talking about her recent music.. As in, Number 1 Angel and her newest release Pop 2. They are the ABSOLUTE BOPS of the century. If you love EDM, you’ll love Charli.

4. Tove Lo
Now this girl, here… I am passionate about. I don’t understand why her own songs don’t get as popular as they SHOULD. Because they are ART. Songs that feature her seem to go popular, but her latest albums Lady Wood and Blue Lips are the absolute bomb. An amazing message and an amazing voice.
When I listen to her, I literally feel like I’m high in the club, and my life is falling apart at the same time.. Such an icon.
5. H.E.R.
And who doesn’t love a girl who doesn’t reveal herself?? H.E.R. has no name, and no face. She’s always covered with her sunglasses and her hair, but it takes nothing away from that beautiful and raw voice that she has. She keeps her focus on her music, and not on her looks. Fight the system, girl. No looks, all voice.
6. Sabrina Claudio
This girl here… THIS girl. My iPhone background screen for at least three months, Sabrina Claudio has such a soulful and blissful voice, that just MAKES you truly FEEL yourself. Her troubles become YOURS, her love becomes YOURS, and it hits you right in the heart strings.
She has been getting some clout recently, with becoming the Apple Music’s Up Next Artist, and performing on the Late Late Show with James Corden, but not nearly as much clout as she really deserves. I’m telling you, listen to her. NOW.
7. Billie Eilish
Don’t underestimate her for her age… She may only be 15, but her nuanced voice brings out the dark and troubled mistakes of love and relationships. She has a long road before her, but she will truly thrive with the music she’s making.
She is truly one to follow. Keep your EYES ON HER people. And keep jammin’ on. KEEP IT ON.
8. Nina Nesbitt
An artist that won’t give up, Nina has written major bops here and there, with Chewing Gum, The Moments I’m Missing, and The Best You Had, I am beyond SHOCKED that none of these songs went viral. Totally should’ve.
Her music video for Chewing Gum was absolute ART and I think I watched that on repeat for at least a week. Nonstop. I wish I was kidding.

9. Hey Violet
I live for the SEXUAL prowess they give me in every song. I literally feel like a misunderstood sugar baby whenever Guys My Age plays. And when the beat drops in Unholy… I can’t. I just can’t. It’s literally too much for me. I can’t wait to hear what they have to release in the future.
Whatever they release I will LIVE for it. I just KNOW IT.
10. Mila J
Last but CERTAINLY not least… Mila J. I get some major fiery passions against a non-existent ex-lover of mine whenever I listen to her songs.. I mean, New Crib, No Fux. I mean… C’MON. I can’t. Just listen to it. I live for her.
